Santa Entangled

Did this one about a year ago in Dortmund - foreseeing, that my next Christmas-Time will be closer to the sea. The booth's owner sold fish and had this Santa caught in his fish-light-net, you normally catch Christmas or other trees with ... I tried some colouring this time.

Times and Places are changing

Due to my moving business (not be mixed up with other people's movie business) I haven't been around for a while. But hey why not use my holidays, to catch up a little again ... I thought to myself and a (non-computeral) virus did the same ... catch me if you can - and he could. Or she? Who really wants to know ...

... well at least I am alive. And that's I wanted to state: I keep on posting here. Soon again!

Two years online = Web 2.0?.

So, if you are online for two years: Does this mean, you are the impersonated Web 2.0?

Naked Censor

After flickr made the start on censoring German accounts a couple of weeks ago an American publisher of children's books (Boyds Mills Press) now adds another story on censoring skin: The pictures shown above and the one following are taken from Rotraut Susanne Berner's worldwide reknown "Wimmelbücher" give too much room for naked details. They urged the illustrator to delete those two tiny details before they would buy the rights and print the books. She didn't want to and the German publisher either ... hmm, what does this story tell us?

.. both taken from this tiny scene ...

Zwangzig

Haven't been drawing for days, as we are somehow busy imagining pictures of future flats ... finally came up with this anniversary-greeting-card, for someone who is already working for 20 years for the same company.
"Zwangzig" (something like "compulsion(ing)") nearly sounds like "Zwanzig" (meaning "twenty") - so connected to compulsory labour ... translating plays of words stinks ... ;-)

End of tunnel

Eight days of work to go at my current working place before heading for another challenge… thinking about that, the saying of our former minister for foreign affairs (Joschka Fischer) came back to my mind:

“It’s not the light at the end of the tunnel you see, it’s the lights of the encountering train coming up to you …”

Online-Festival

Came about the live-stream to "Rock am Ring" - a classic major outdoor music festival, starting today and counting .... another two. And as it is for festivals: It's raining. So I remembered The Shins' singer I drew lately from a picture taken from the ARD - therefore the encircled number One.
Best festival equipment next to a raincoat allways seemed to be a life jacket for me - on the other hand, not the first choice if you prefer stage diving, though.

Negative Space

Did some training in character design and their dynamic behaviour ... so is this one of 'em. Negative space and overlapping limbs are supposed to be the first step.

Talking about first steps and space and negative: Resuming the first weeks of spacious apartment-search: negative, Sir ... according to our budget ;-)

Waves // Wellen

it's so hot and sticky these days // can't wait to get closer to the sea in some weeks // anyone out there having a home for us in Hamburg // we're still looking out for one // ... // no fun

Talking about waves ...

.. global dimming will bring some more to us and where I might about to live. Take a look here, what the BBC and 3Sat broadcasted these days. Global dimming through pollution decelerated the effect of global warming. Now, as we work on reducing it ...

If you click on the picture, you'll be about to see the whole documentary by the weekly BBC-magazin "Horizon". Read a first insight here ...

"This is a film that demands action. It reveals that we may have grossly underestimated the speed at which our climate is changing. At its heart is a deadly new phenomenon. One that until very recently scientists refused to believe even existed. But it may already have led to the starvation of millions. Tonight Horizon examines for the first time the power of what scientists are calling Global Dimming."

I yet don't know, how Olav Korth (Cologne) came up with his site's name. I only know, his comic-panels and ideas are always worth coming by once in while! He also is one of the contributors to Mamba.

Strange Things // Seltsame Dinge

"Seltsame Dinge" - meaning "strange things" - the boy was inspired by Alex Noriega (as written on the page above). After I got back to his page again, I went on drawing.
Funny enough my Mom called that night, some weeks ago, and told me strange things ... after I had drawn this page

Inspiring Easter

Tons of sketches, inspired by the fruitful Easter bunny and driven by some niece's picture- wishes I am about to share some with you.Bought two new colours so I am able to paint as pink and purple water as Enrico does in his ongoing Venice Chronicles.

... and still more bunnies who couldn't be held next to the scanner, hidden in my books.

As I am still training on both of it, I have to share this wonderful watercolour-blog with you.

just a test to see if this really works out fine ... and by the way I like the teaser and the Japanese trailer which might be the "real" trailer, too?

And the Oscar goes to ...

(c) Geschmeido

... this wonderful German band I found: "Geschmeido". Just go there and click on some even free tracks to get into them and buy their new album at any personal retailer.

That picture, shown above reminds me of this years Oscar-winning movie "Das Leben der anderen" (Life of the Others) - though Geschmeido's b/w-photo has been taken a lot earlier.

This time (Jan 28th, 2007) it's been an worldwide indoor crawl. Here is what I would see from some place in our apartment. To get the full background-story, please take a look here. And to get an overview on all the wonderful participants work - this time in one big post - peak around this corner.

STOP (IF: Red // Jan 26)

"Illustration Friday is a weekly illustration challenge. A topic is posted every Friday and then participants have all week to come up with their own interpretation. " it's saying on Illustration Friday. But the more popular this wonderful idea became, more and more nice illustrators leave illus done before the subject has been published and to top it: even promote these drawings for sale.

I am not jealous and there are some wonderful drawings on their way. But I'd like to have the spontaneous fun back, which lifted this forum - I am just a little bit tired of clicking through all the other posts not directly related to the idea of IF.

Rhett .. Red Butler

For all, who do not know: He is the male leading role in "Gone With The Wind"

... standing again!

Due to some "maladissimo" I have been laying around most of the last days. Celebrating my hopefully upcoming upright period I test-post this:
A sketch I finally glued on that king-size matchbox, which in fact beholds these clips - really neat to clip some notes or postcards and have them stand around you ;-)
Snow is falling right now - allways a good sign for me. Am I right, a.n.?

Creepin' from underneath into ...

.. the huggly-muggly bed, in some seconds. Story will follow. Good night everyone!

Wednesday, January 03, 2007

Oooh, so this is how it feels ...

... when I start drawing and painting again. Time to go to bed and keep on monochrome colourworks. Will I be able to share and put up about one post per week as last year? Keep the fingers crossed.

Have yourself a merry litte dancing ...

... and a happy new year, everyone!

I drew this on New Years Morning while traditionally watching the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra with their concert broadcasted worldwide. This song played every single year actually during my drawing this year was "An der schönen blauen Donau" - "At the beautiful blue river Donau" and has been dedicated by this year's conductor Zubin Mehta to the new members No. 26 and No. 27 of the European Union: Bulgaria and Romania, which should be crossed by the river Donau.

Welcome!
